Heavy vehicle training is provided by TISC in a variety of modern vehicles. These vehicles range from Light
Truck to Multi Combination (B Double). Training sessions are two hours in duration. The amount of training
sessions conducted can depend on the participant's current level of competence, however as a rough guide, the average
amount of training is approximately eight hours.
TISC is also the ACT licensing authority for all heavy vehicles and tests can be arranged through our office during
business hours. As well, TISC offers high quality defensive driving courses with specific orientation to heavy vehicles.

ACT Licence Testing
Undertaking a driving test or a Competency Based Assessment in a heavy vehicle fitted with an automatic or a synchromesh
gearbox (TISC heavy vehicles do not have synchromesh gearboxes), a condition will be added to your license which will
only allow you to drive heavy vehicles of a similar transmission type. To have the condition removed you will have to
successfully complete a condensed driving test in a vehicle fitted with a constant mesh gearbox.
Light Rigid - Hold a class C for 1 year
Medium Rigid - Hold a class C for 1 year
Heavy Rigid - Hold a class C for 2 years
Heavy Combination - Hold a class MR for 1 year
Multi Combination - Hold a class HR for 1 year
